Doing things with friends
May. 21st, 2014 09:58 pmA more positive note on the blog today.
It's been a while, but I haven't posted much about all the nice things I've been doing lately.
First of all, there was the bachelorette's party of
dolphirl. The boys and girls met up near her and Nexxus' house and we really scared the living daylights out of the happy couple by raiding their house. The men went over the back fence to pound on the downstairs windows, while the women flocked together to ring the doorbell and knock on the front door.
We spent a most enjoyable lunch in Kaatsheuvel, so Dolphirl could get used to the idea of our surprise before driving to Valkenswaard (near Eindhoven) for a chocolate workshop. The man giving the workshop talked about chocolate's origin and let us play with three colours of each 30 liters of chocolate. Mmmm!
After the workshop was finished and we each had three boxes of chocolate (but Dolphirl got 7!) we went to Eindhoven to an Asian restaurant. There we hooked up with the boys again and had a lovely dinner. The people from the restaurant made a beautiful picture of the lovely couple.
I think they describe it best on their website and it does include pictures, so feel free to look at Rob en Wendy.nl.
On the day of the wedding itself, I spent a few hours with
erwinl and
anastaszia and other larpers in a pancake restaurant to have lunch. We coloured the picture on the placemats like we were six years old and had a grand time at it.
Then there was yet another bachelor's party, this one was last weekend. I took the Saturday off and drove to Nijmegen where I spent a very enjoyable Saturday in the sunshine with
anemoona and her best friends. We had a high tea in the sunshine and then made our way down the lovely streets of Nijmegen to a small charm-and-beads shop for a jewelry workshop. After a short introduction we were set loose on the store, which featured numerous drawers filled with small cups of beads and charms and findings and clasps and everything in between. I made a lovely necklace to try my hand at a technique I didn't know yet.
We had dinner at Sumo, which is an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant. I sat in the larper's corner and was happy to sit opposite
omdathetkan, who assured me he still reads my blog.
The day after there was a little party at my place to celebrate my birthday. Yava'in and
mrtimmey were early but no less welcome and stayed the longest, along with Gûrron, who hitched a ride. I had asked people to share their favourite recipe with me (so I can spend more time in my wonderful kitchen) they also gave me some of the required ingredients! Anemoona surprised me with the recipe for ketchup, tomato soup and tomato sauce accompanied by two large tomato plants just coming into bloom.
nachtvisser gave me a basil plant to go with his mediterranean salad. There were recipes for smoked salmon and spinach quiche (thank you,
zegnooitnooit!) and hamburgers with mango salsa. Mmm!
So despite all the woe and tragedy there have been fun times too. This Sunday will see us at WB Movie World in Germany, a first time visit for me, so that will surely be fun too!
