With only nine nights until we're back in Dixie-fest, here's my list of things to be made for Drachenfest and their current status. This includes MOSCOW rating (Must, Should, Could, Wish).

  • New Gambeson. On the list because my first gambeson's fit is rather horrible and it's also far too short. I am not happy by far by the quilting (wrong thread, pattern could be better), the finishing (I was rather in a hurry) but I am very much loving the new collar. Scroll down to the cut for pictures. I used my 'geisha jacket' pattern, which was approved of in school by my teacher and fits rather perfectly, if I say so myself.
Currently on hold, since I ran out of bias tape, which I am using to finish off all seams except the one in the waist. It looks awesome, since it cuts the big pieces into bits and outlines the garment quite nicely. Still needs eyelets, hemming and sleeves. Moscow rating: MUST
  • Helmet. Already mostly assembled but the cheekguard and back of the head piece are quite a lot of work still. Can probably finish this on Drachenfest but would prefer to have it done before then. Moscow rating: Should.
  • Pants. Pre-washing fabric (should have done that earlier this week!) and will be ready for cutting, serging & assembly tomorrow. Moscow rating: Should
  • Greaves. Been working on these for the better part of six months, and it's not very motivating. Lots of handsewing through leather. I'm seriously considering not finishing these. Moscow rating: Could
  • Bracers. Since I ran out of fabric for my gambeson the lower part of my arms is exposed, and This Will Not Do. Can probably scrape together bits of vegetable tanned leather to make these from, but I am seriously considering just picking up my layered bracers in Tilburg. Moscow rating: Should.
  • Time-in Pyjama's. (Yes you read that correctly). Just cut out the pattern and I'm already working the neckline facing. Should have this done in an hour or so. For those midnight "They're taking the hobbits to Isengard" emergencies. Moscow rating: WTF
  • Time-in appropriate underwear. There is a slight chance I need to strip down to my bra to receive a correctional beating and I'd like to be wearing a time-in appropriate bra cover. But who am I kidding. I should have drawn the line at IT pyjama's. Moscow rating: you are frickin' insane, girl.
  • Formal jacket. Tim has one that looks awesome so I want one too. Just a black jacket with high collar and white bunny fur on the shoulders. Very simple to make (just use the same pattern as the gambeson, but shorter, possibly with an asymmetrical opening) and will allow me to wear the necklace the Calennar gifted me. (I plan on making a different collar, leaving the front of the throat bare.) Pre-washing my fabric (cotton sateen) and wondering why I always do this to myself. Moscow rating: Could.
  • Mix tape for on the road. Currently selected tracks: Pink Floyd - Dogs of War ; Pink Floyd - One of These Days ; The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up; Christina Aguilera - Fighter ; Turmion Kätilött - Teurastaja ; Rammstein - Feuer Frei ; Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out for a Hero ; ACDC - Thunderstruck ; Halestorm - I Miss the Misery ; Heart - Barracuda

Since lists clear my head and I'm very much running around in circles on what to make next, there you have it!

And now for pictures of my gambeson! )

To do tonight: finish pj's, mark eyelet placing, make bias tape for armscyes (the part under the arm is done in the cotton canvas of the gambeson, the sleeves are attached with bias tape) and relax for a bit. Tomorrow I go to my grandmother's birthday (89!) and another backyard pizza fest at my mother's place, so there won't be much sewing.
