Keeping up with paper LJ, so the long stories will follow later, but here is at least a picture of me working very hard at relaxing.

Picture thanks to Nokey.

Today is Saturday, the only day we had nothing planned for, and we ask the receptionist where we could take a nice walk. After some perplexed looks we are directed to the Nunspeet "Zandenbos", where we choose to take the 6 kilometer route, possibly even opting for the 24 km route it connects to halfway through.
The white marker poles guide us down forest paths in this national park and the path is meandering at best. We go left and right, up and down, and see an abundance of nature. Beech trees with leaves littered everywhere one moment, pines and moss, sand and heather the next.

The forest is quite beautiful and more clean than we're used to. Although human trash is still around, it is nowhere near as bad as in the forests we usually visit. A nice change. I take pictures of some last remaining mushrooms, but the weather is dreary and the light far less than perfect. It is only 5°C outide and a slight drizzle reminds us that it's very, very cold.

By the time we finish our 6 km route, it's past one o'clock and I'm getting peckish again. We drive to Harderwijk, hope and pray the rental Caddy fits into the parking garage (it did), and have a wonderful lunch at Luigi's. NoKey noms on noodles and I devour a salad with beef, Old Amsterdam, rucola, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes that is far too delicious to be legal.

When we return to the parking garage it has just started raining, and a large queue is forming of people fleeing the town. We turn back around and pick up a gift for NoKey's sister and a new backpack for myself before trying again.
Harderwijk is quite cute, with original city walls, ancient buildings et al, but the weather really sucks this time of year.

Back in the castle we shower to warm up and have our final dinner in the catacombs: deer carpaccio and fish, with ice cream and coffee as desert. NoKey also opts for fish, but has tea and lingonberry bavarois as dessert.
Tomorrow after breakfast it is time to check out and go home again. Time has flown!
