The street beat
Dec. 5th, 2011 01:19 pmGetting the beat down is going to be difficult but I had a pretty significant first today: cycling to the stores. I noticed a plastic recycle bin and a glass container, so we're going to organise several bins to store these recycle-worthy materials in.
The list of recycle-worthy plastics is very good, this should cut down on our use of garbage bags and keep most of the trash we have out of the garbage kliko. We have our own compost-barrel, which is now under some heavy duress with all the coffee and tea filters and cauliflower clippings that are added to it, but as soon as the weather clears I can add more plant matter. It'll cope, nom, and belch accordingly, I'm sure.
I also cleaned the litterbox with bleach, something that needed doing, and unpacked a few more boxes. I'm getting the hang of this place, but I need to kick my butt into gear. The toilet downstairs is giving some stuff back when I've just done the dishes or used the shower or even when it's raining, so I bought a heavy-duty chemical solution. Let's hope this works.
Tonight will see me at school (by car) and tomorrow we have an inspection at the old apartment, so I'll be over there clearing some shit away as well.
