Making candles
Oct. 12th, 2011 10:04 pmThis past week has been all about clearing away some junk. And among that junk is no less than three boxes of candlewax that have been donated to me in the past few years. I used to make a pretty decent candle, but the process is tedious and it takes forever.
I made a batch of small candles, with a pink bottom and white on the top in crème brulée glasses my father saved up for me ages ago. I also made a batch in dark blue which turned out to be more charcoal later on in the batch. I combined leftovers of this with a bright green. But here's the few candles I'm really proud of, selected by shape and batch brightness.

Top left is "pink striped pyjama's", Top middle is a blue "dripping over" some white candlewax. Bottom middle is a bright green combined with mint blue, very spring-flavoured candle, and the bottom right is the "fleshy grave" candle made with ice cubes.
Today's batch was the pink striped pyjama's batch, which remind me of nine-year-old girls and Lanzaned's daughter (who probably likes pink, because she's over one year old). I spilled candlewax all over my trousers which made me really thankful I wasn't wearing my Anarquendor hoodie like yesterday, but I fixed them with the iron and lots of paper towels. I did the ice cube candles yesterday. Because they really do look like flesh, I'll donate them to the Van Leij people who are throwing us a Halloween party to cheer up the place.
All in all, I'm glad I worked my way through most of the candlewax and I'll be really glad to hand this over to Tim's girl who will be picking up this hobby now that I'm done with it. *smirk*
Not having a job may have made me less talkative, but at least I share the pretty things I make with all of you.
