Anarquendor quilt
Oct. 8th, 2011 10:33 amI bought these fabrics off e-bay a while back, but I finally got around to making something of it. I had two separate fabrics: One piece with four panels (39 cm square), surrounded by brown leaves. The other fabric was a coordinating border fabric.
For our roleplaying group I wanted to make a wall hanging (like the one here, made by the mother of one of our group) for in our tent. The panel made sure I could make it pop!
I wanted to do the panel with several borders around it, but I made a few mistakes -- so I learned a lot. This is why the quilt is smaller than I'd hoped and only has one 'popping' border and two of the brown leaves fabric.

It's not this psychedelic in real life, honest. And it's perfectly square.
The quilt was backed in plain brown cotton, because it's a bit on a budget. The batting is a fluffy interfacing that might also be used in winter coats. For three euro per meter, I can't be too picky, right?

As you can see, the center panel is quilted around the leaves of the center panel. The brown border next to the panel is stitch-in-the-ditch, and the big flowery border has a diamond pattern that I cooked up myself, and on the outside is another stitch-in-the-ditch.
Here's a close-up of the center panel stitching. I used juniper berry blue for quilting.

I had also quilted around the berries, but I picked it out again. I'm pretty darn proud about the stitching around the leaves, those were some tricky lines to sew.
This is only my fourth quilt, so I'm still learning a ton of things. I would be very happy to hear what you have to say, any advice and feedback is very welcome!
