People who know me will also know I don't like kids. They will also be very surprised to hear that one of the most fun things for me this Castlefest was being beaten to death by 50 or so of them.
The traditional children's battle is hosted on the field near the duck pond in front of the castle. Some guy asked me to join, and though we weren't allowed to use our own larp weapons (too dangerous near very uncontrollable children) I still had an awesome time. The organisers gave us foam isolation pipes, held into shape by a bit of tape. The kids had one each, we had one each. And it's larpers vs. children.

I was one of the first to go down, as it was so much fun to do. A little guy kept beating me, and I was playing out my hits with vigor, loving every second of it. Falling face down in the grass was fun too! After the first wave, we were resurrected and we went two more times... It was so much fun! And the kids loved it too. *wink*

I spent way too much money, but I got two lovely bucksuede skirts that are far too pettable for anything but bedroom wear (but they're neat enough to wear to work). I bought a small belt with five throwing daggers for larp (€ 70,- for the set), a small bit of soap (scent: Monkey Fart), yet another quill for Marianne, a small timepiece shaped like a ball in gold, a pair of earrings, and a lot of scalemail stuff. I also ordered NoKey's birthday present at Dragonskin and had him measured for it and ordered 'medieval' shoes from Valyar.

Today NoKey's cousin and his mother joined us, and I do believe they had a blast as well. Thank goodness the wheelchair battery could be charged again, because I wouldn't fancy pushing her all day on that terrain. We let them roam around as their pace was slower than a lolita on 9" heels, but we met up for food and drinks several times.

I'm very, very happy with the pictures Woran took of us. I was stopped so many times by photographers I must be looking cross-eyed by now. And GothicModels first fed me a green lollipop that discolours your tongue, before making a charming, cross-eyed, tonge-wagging close-up of my already discoloured face! In short, I had a blast.

It's been an interesting experience to go as a visitor. Next year we will be there with Dolle Griet again.
