NoKey and I had a fight just now. One with Larp-swords! First up was my elvensword against his katana. I learnt some new techniques and tried to unlearn my goofiness. It's hard to learn new stuff if you've already learnt something else. I used to hold my sword goofy, resulting in my other foot to be forward. With my right hand on top, I need to stand the other way around, and this made me fuck up my blocking. I was always good at blocking!
Anyway, NoKey took out my short elven sword and I learnt that if anything, I can slap someone's hands often enough to piss them off. Then he took out the other short sword and I showed him how it worked. I'm actually not that bad with ambidex! It is a strain on my left wrist though, but I really got the hang of it now that I'm not afraid to be hit in the face any more. After all, that happened in the first half of the match!
So now I'm all sweaty and gooey. Go us! I feel much more confident about the upcoming Legendfalls (next weekend) and my new roles!
