I can feel another Cuba Crisis coming up.
Sep. 13th, 2005 09:54 amWhat is it with people and power?
Today, I read on Warren Ellis' blog about Pentagon plans strike-first nuclear policy in a New Zealand newspaper. NoKey found the same story on Slashdot, who linked to Pentagon Revises Nuclear Strike Plan in the Washington post.
Slashdot's story's headline reads: How About a Nice Game of Global Thermonuclear War?
I mean, what the fucking fuck? Do we not have enough environmental problems already? How many nations out there already hate the USofA? I know I'm not their number one fan, but this just goes to show they really know how to piss people off.
From the articles:
So as soon as the French Prime Minister looks awkwardly at Dubya, we've got a nuclear warhead up our arses. That would be so nice. There's no winter like nuclear winter. And people are so terribly normal, let's get those radiation-induced sicko's out here again.
I mean, come the fuck on. This morning on the radio I heard that Bin Laden/ Al Queda was planning new terrorist attacks on Europe. I think he's going to shift his objective now.
What Dubya (and in the eyes of most people hating him, America) just did is paint a nice big bullseye on the US of fucking A. Well done. Your trigger-happiness just got us off the target map.
Some people....sjeesh.

From the articles:
"Under the scheme, developed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff but yet to be ratified by Donald Rumsfeld, the Defence Secretary, commanders would be able to request permission from the President to use nuclear weapons in a variety of scenarios. According to the Washington Post, one possibility is an enemy that is using, or "is about to use" weapons of mass destruction against US military forces or civilian population. Another is where nuclear weapons could be used against biological weapons that an enemy was close to using, and which could only be safely destroyed by nuclear weapons and their after-effects. "
