The internet is a scary place
Jan. 18th, 2005 09:56 amRemembering how sucky it is to boot Windows every time I want to play something frilly like the Sims or Worms Blast - I also have to remember my brother saying that Linux "isn't that safe". He says "every 1000 lines of code has at least one bug". To which NoKey replied "that's actually very good". I guess I don't want to know how many bugs there are in Windows code eh?
In any case, the grievances of Open Source and GNU aside. Just a warning for all surfing people, especially those surfing with old operating systems, unupdated Internet Explorer, without a firewall. The internet is not your friend;

Obiwan Kenobi writes "Brian Hook of id software fame got around to developing on ActiveX and found some minor grievances, particularly in the security department. To quote: "I've been doing some ActiveX coding on the side for a couple days, stuff I'm not familiar with, and I'm just flat out _appalled_ at how bad that entire API and design is. I can make an OCX that basically formats your hard drive, stick it on a Web page with a tag, and if your security settings are set low enough, you'll start formatting your hard drive the minute you visit my Web page.""

In other news, It's been sewing galore here. A customer picked up his custom-made kilt, and NoKey and I bought out stuff from the Wol Idee. We'll have enough brown and blue thread for a while. We also picked up 50m of lingerie-elastic for french knickers and the likes (black). At 75 cents a meter and then adding a 30% discount, we got quite a deal. I've worked on some jerkins, and will start today on the dracula cloak Diana ordered.
But first: coffee
