Lapjesmarkt for Dolle Griet
Jan. 18th, 2004 08:29 pmSaturday NoKey and I hopped a train to Utrecht and found Pasje in there (as agreed). So we enjoyed the traintrip and hopped out of the train and into rainy drizzly Utrecht. Pasje misguided us to a cinema (there's a cinema on the Jaarbeurs side of the station? WTF?) and then we walked to the lapjesmarkt, this time NoKey and I leading Pasje around. The rain was baaaad, and cold, but we jumped under overhangs and fondled the fabrics lovingly.
Halfway through we had hot cocoa and a sandwich, and after seeing the entire market we had a second lunch at King Arthur's at the Oude Gracht. We said goodbye to Pasje, who went back to Rotterdamn, while NoKey and I continued on ahead to the bowels of Utrecht, to the Florin and Firkin (Aye, that is an Irish Pub indeed, laddie). The Dutch Elfwood meeting. It was great seeing Emagica again, I hadn't seen him since Shiverz III, so I told him what had happened on Shiverz IV. coen and paysdoc again! The latter even brought his kids. Fun fun fun.
I drew a couple of satisfactory pictures, the last one being most satisfying, a Fade, 'The Look Of The Eyeless Is Fear' from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. I've finished the Eye of the World, and am currently reading part III of the Elenium.
Back to the events. We left the F&F around six, to grab a bite to eat. Mr.Jacks is well-known for it's good studentikoze food, affordable and tasty. We had dinner for two, salad and pizzas, for thesame price as either of the lunches we had that day. But that's alright. The day was a blast!
We'd hoped to see Matrix Revolutions in the cinema, but they only showed it at 13.15, as it turned out. So we went home. And I had a file system check [set mode fsck], which was long overdue.
All in all, I say it was a very successful day. I didn't buy any fabrics just for me (good) but I bought only for Dolle Griet. 55 euros on fabric, and 12 euro on dark red accent-ribbon. For that money I have 9 meters of black velvet, 3 meters of dark red velvet, 10 meters of unbleached cotton, 5 meters of unbleached crincled cotton, and 5 meters of very soft black lace. In total, that makes 32 meters of fabric for 55 euro. Not bad, not bad.
Today, while I was working on the Flamenco Skirt and the white microfiber skirt, NoKey has been updating his kernel for Linux and putting in a new HD. So I'm typing this on an old-ass keyboard on a brandspanking new and updated KDE 3.1.4 at a Linux Kernel 2.6.1

Flamenco skirt: it's a lotta work, but I'm getting there. Need to do the ruffles, and then it's done. Only the ruffles. Only. Heh.
White Microfiber skirt: Hell yeah! The skirt has been shortened by 7 centimeters, and I've been adding a white ribbon on the hem. Which makes it purtier than it already was. But we calculated for a circle skirt, and it's a 2-circle skirt, so we need 3.5 meters ribbon yet. Heh. Tomorrow...first thing.
