The Japanese experience
Dec. 6th, 2003 05:34 pmWell, last night certainly was fun. NoKey and I all dressed up and perky (and horny) went into town to the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant. There we waited at the bar until his mother and Tessa, his sister, showed up.
I was at first a bit nervous, not because of the fam, but more because of the etiquette at the table. I have never eaten in such an expensive and exclusive restaurant before, and the chopsticks had been a while. But though the waiters were a bit stiff (not unlike the zombie way), the chefs were cool. We sat at a 'bar' surrounding the plate the chefs cooked on. Large metal baskets filled with fish and meat and vegetables were baked right in front of you. Tessa had a seafood menu, NoKey the vegetarian, his mother the salmon/meat menu and I went for the meat menu. The chef cooked for helf the bar (10 people) at a time, and regularly asked whether how you eat your meat.
First off for me were meatballs, in a spring union dressing, which was great. Then there was a tofu soup which I didn't enjoy as much, and we continued with several kinds of vegetable (courgette [zuccini for you americans] shrooms and unionring), several kinds of meat in soy-sesame sause, and then the main course. I stole some of NoKey's seaweed which was kind of tasty, and I loved the chicken and flambe'd meat. The chef was real good with his knives, threw his pepper around and shot pieces of fried egg into the mouths of people. A pile of 3 unboiled eggs on top of eachother was also a nice trick.
I finally mastered the chopsticks though, and enjoyed the food immensely. The icecream was fun too. And NoKey got great presents. From his mom and Tess a dvd from the Matrix reloaded and the TTT special extended dvd collection. And I got him "the concise and possible accurate map of Ankh-Morpork" (which we have been studying for at least 45 minutes when we got home); the cookbook of Nanny Ogg, and the Kama Sutra. *devious grin*
And when we got home we thoroughly enjoyed undressing eachother.
Tonight: with Voltar and others to Rapalje!
