I'm just a girl in the world...
Jul. 27th, 2003 11:40 amNobody's updated since last night! I'm apalled.
I doubt there are that many people on holiday, you all still must be doing fun stuff (after all, it's summer), so tell your lovely journal and the people on your friends list about it.
The book Malor lend me - Toreador, part one of the Vampire series - is addicting. And confusing. But mostly addicting. Unlike the last book I read (Ira Levin's This Perfect Day, also very addicting) events and storylines are developing slowly, very slowly. That is one of the things I tend to get irky about. The other is the ponderments of the characters. For instance, one Vampire being restrained by a foe, starts to contemplate somthing in lengthy sentences (ergo, it was quite rational thinking) in the middle of a fighting scene where adrenaline should be rushing your veins (that is, if your heart would still be beating). Annoying, sort of.
And the book features an undead spirit named Randall. It's got quite a temper too, because it was forcefully restored to life. *grin*
All in all, I need more time to read.
Worked at Gonzales last night.Emile was there, which lifted my spirits considerably. He's fun, and he brings good music. I had a group of nice people (one even wanted his picture taken with me. What am I, a celeb?!) at 7 thru 10. At eleven there were two very nice women who just drank a lot of wine and Irish coffee and became nicer still, before ordering a cab. I helped out Erik at table 5 and 6 as well, they were great people too. And at twelve sat six youngsters (about 30 yrs old) who drank about 5 litres of beer with just two men. They come in pints!-like.
I ran my ass off - we were quite understaffed - but managed to keep smiling all the time, and enjoyed myself with the tables. This was noticable in the tips. Table 5, 6, 11 and the group of 7-10 all gave HUGE tips. In total we had a whopping 3.5 euro tip per hour work (normally we make a little over 1 euro per hour work; in the summer even a bit less. Tips are devided very fairly as you can see). This accumulated to 22 euro tip for me.
And since I'm saving my tips for larpstuff (like swords and chainmails) I was very happy. Already saved 60 euro in three weeks' work! Unheard of.
It's been a while since we worked until half past one in the morning, normally we finish up around midnight, or half past. I slept at two, until my brutal alarmclock slaughtered the nice headachy sleep that knocked me out, at ten. Then I showered and kicked my period in. And now I'm chatting and looking for late articles.
And I've even found some time to update my website.
But that's about all. In half an hour Erik will pick me up for a cleaning session at Gonzales. He's going on holiday for two weeks and the place needs to be spotless.
