Arnhems Openlucht Museum
Jul. 25th, 2003 02:15 pmMalor came over last night and I cooked nice pilaf with fresh krupuk for him. We ate, laughed, listened to Therion again and again, and then packed our bags and drove to Arnhem.
Inside the Openlucht Museum (meaning it's outside in the open air) we dressed in our costumes and schminked. As it turned out, I was appointed make-up artist and had to do the make-up on most monsters. Ignis was already done, hunchbacked and crooked-nosed and all, and helped me with my scars. Theme was, after all "as ugly as the night" [zo lelijk als de nacht].
Alex played a very shy ugly person. He hardly had any make-up done, but Erwin wore a chainmail that was torn on his belly. I made a big life-like bloody scar underneath, and was very pleased with the way that looked. Rearbear was one of Maglok's minions and Telgen was the second. They just required some shading underneath the eyes. I had made Malor an eye-patch, General Chang-style (Star Trek - The undiscovered country, big badass Klingon general who kept on quoting Hamlet) which was glued to his face but looked like it was nailed to it with three nails. And I scarred him, his grin got even wider.
All of us set out, the pirates shared the rum and tried to get more people to join in the seafaring business, until we had to get ready for the first catwalk. I put on my peg leg, re-tied my bandana, and out we went.
In total, we walked three catwalks, with kiddies in between, and some horrible Lisa with cotton candy suit announcing us. We had major fun though.
After the last catwalk, we had to have our pictures taken, and we hobbled on outside (no, wait, I hobbled, and the rest walked or supported me). After the piccies, we took out our swords and spent some time butsing in the main hall.
Then we changed back to Muggle-clothes (and I put on a cloak to compensate) and we all went home.
Malor crashed at Veenendaal, we cought some z's, and then had breakfast with mucho coffee and butsed some more. Neighbours watched us. *grin*
And I'm enjoying my last day behind Daphne's sewing machine.
