Last night was ever so much fun! Migs came over all the way from Belgium, and we drove to Gonzales, where I work. I had reserved a table and we sat on table 17, close to the buffet, in the heart of the restaurant. While we drank sweet white wine and the meat was sizzling on the barbecue in between us, we talked about larping and organising larps, Star Trek, costumes and our friendship.

He made a severe hit on the salad buffet, while I ate a bit of potatosalad and some pickled unions with my two loads of meat. The food was terrific, as usual with Gonzales, and I was surprised to see Michael was back at the job (he had broken one of his fingers).

We decided to skip the icecream and go straight for the main prize: coffee Gonzales, which is coffee with Kahlua, burnt sugar (kandij) and whipped cream. It tasted marvellous as always. My boss chatted a bit to Miguel about the restaurant, explaining about the franchise and how it’s supposed to spread to Belgium and Germany. Then he fixed up a nice bill for us, he charged us half for the dinner! The drinks were on our account though and in the end I insisted on paying 20 euro’s of the bill. I’m Dutch, so I split my bills with the person I eat with. (Can’t argue with that, now can you?)

We drove to the So What, I hadn’t been there in ages! I had hoped Peter, mr Polarbear *grin*, would tend bar and he was there indeed. He greeted me with a big grin and a remark “Hey, gorgeous, want to have sex tonight?” to which I replied “No, thanks, that’s what I have him for” with a wide grin and a nod in Migs’ direction. We drank two rounds and spoke of many things. Migs seemed to approve of the pub.

Then we drove home and decided to beat eachother up. [no that’s not my way of saying there was some more intimate form of contact, because there wasn’t!] I changed from my skirt to a baggggy jeans (I think I once baptised it ‘mr. Comfy’) and picked up my sword. Migs is a very skilled swordsman and as he advanced towards me, striking furiously and full of elan, he reminded me of Asterix. *Wide Grin*
He showed me some neat-o tricks: the turn he had shown me last time and how to do it and when, as well as disarming (not dismembering) a not-so-skilled blonde female opponent. In two different ways. I don’t dare try these tricks though, especially when I’m bashing the Dreamwalker, because he’s very unpredictable and I’m way not skilled enough. I could still kick any rookie’s ass though!

We switched swords, I got my hands on his wonderful two-handed 135 cm (or something) sword while he fought with my one-handed 85 cm Vinlander. Even with his rapid advances and quick blows I could easily keep him off my hide, even if he hit me on the hands hard at times. Because my sword was very long he couldn’t get close to hit me and I even could manage to place a blow on his torso a few times.
Then we switched back, I had to defend myself with my Vinlander: Tear. It’s actually a sword that goes with a shield (if only I had had a shield!) and it’s very short. Migs took fast steps forward, placing blows left and right, while I tried to swing Tear in order to block him. Because he had such a long sword and Tear only is short, I managed to stop some blows, but was hit quite harsh on my arms, torso (he even scraped my neck once) and hands.

We stopped when I felt my pinky-finger swell up from the blows. It’s quite painful, and I’ve got a few bruises on my arms but I don’t mind. I cherish them as my scars. *Grin* Migs was panting and I had already had some alcohol which in general makes me sleepy. I was quite pleased with my defense, I’ve improved greatly since I’ve had this sword already…
We went inside and watched Queen of the Damned on my small 12 inch (ok, it’s tiny…) monitor. I still love that movie.

This morning we had breakfast and he left to go to Shivers (a larp organised by Wouter). I wish I could have come. But I’ve got great plans for Formanterra. Thanks to Migs I know more of my roles and how I must act in them as well as what I have to accomplish with them. I must say I can’t wait (but I still have to finish my outfit for my self-designed character). Off to work it is then.
