It's sweater time!
May. 2nd, 2020 10:50 amAs soon as my mind went into exploring Big Project options, I finished the socks that were on the needles and picked up an old WIP that needs finishing. Ride the wave of inspiration baby!

"Knitting up all the Fabel" (white and burgundy) combined with "getting rid of scraps" (blues).
2020 is a weirrrrd year.
Apparantly spring is the time of year that the stars align and I need big projects to work on. My memory is still poor as ever, but one event that does stand out is when Donald Trump was elected president of the USA. I was so shocked by this I wanted to knit a warm sweater I could hide away in from this crazy, scary world.
So maybe the Covid-19 pandemic has to do with my will to knit big projects. Maybe it's just the chilly nights when a big project (or a cat) in your lap is just what you need to stay warm. Who knows?
I love, love, love knitting on my Solstice sweater; the yarn is fabulous and every stitch is a little soft stroke of beauty. But it will be this awesome forever, and I will have no problem picking it up ever. It's also a pretty good portable project for now because it's still small. It's a shame we can't go anywhere.
Instead I picked up the Stonehaven sweater I am knitting for Eisirt. I was already halfway up the armscye, and although the yarn isn't a little party orgasm like the Malabrigo from the Solstice sweater, it's still a fun knit. It's an easy to remember stitch pattern and the only thing that is not fun is that I have to untwist the yarns every couple of rows, but it's not particularly bothersome either. I am knitting this with two skeins, yarn held double, and apparantly I twist them around eachother. Not a big problem, no headache. It's pick a movie to watch and GO!

I told Eisirt of the sweater before our holiday, because I wanted to knit on it during our time in France, but I never did. Now it just meant I could fit the panel on him, and I made the back 5 centimeters longer. So far as I can tell, it's a good fit otherwise.
The pattern calls to save the shoulder stitches on a bit of scrap yarn and the back neck edge on another, which is what I did. The front panel is next and it's almost identical to the back panel. I've already finished the ribbing!
Time to pick a movie and go, go, go!
