Sock Madness: Team preference
Mar. 12th, 2020 10:17 amJust received an e-mail from Tricia, one of the Sock Madness Moderators. She was a little confused since I mentioned being a cheerleader in my registration mail whether or not I wanted to be in a real competition team.
YES! Competition please.
Not only because this year I finally have the time and brainspace again to compete, but also because my best Sock Madness to date was my first Sock Madness, where I was in a team and enjoying the competition fully because I went for it. I wasn't half-assing it like I did during Sock Madness 12, when going out with Kass and Bob was more important than knitting a brioche sock. And during Sock Madness 13 I fumbled my way through mistake after mistake during the qualification round and ended up cheerleading.
It also means they are already putting people in teams, so everyone is hopeful the first round will start quite soon after the Qualification Round has finished. Of course, we'll probably be on our way home by then, but still.
Because Brabant is 'socially quarantined' and people are urged not to congregate in large groups, I rescheduled the bride coming in for a fitting and told Anne-Miek to please be sensible and work from home. I may yet get a second week off -- which is great news for the Madness. Not so much if we actually pick up Covid-19 on the way home, of course. But we'll see.
