In 2016, when Kwibus was still a kitten and I had high hopes of him and Doortje sleeping together, I made a little brown quilted pillow for one of the Ikea wood crates that might hold two cats. In June of that year I was probably the luckiest person alive, because I snapped this picture:

How tiny and cute!
This is the only recorded instance of one of our cats actually using the quilted pillow and the crate. They have *never* used it, unless it was in the way and they were going somewhere and they had to walk through it because going around was not an option.
Until today.
A little while ago one of the places in our Expedit/Kallax room divider opened up and I reshuffled the bins of knitting wool. I put the crate in the farthest space, down near ground level, all the way in the back. The crate is a little larger than the hole, so it could stick out under the little side table. It sits snugly up against a pile of Samla bins in the back, and it's completely hidden from view otherwise. It's the perfect hidey-hole.

I claim victory.
I tole you it was a great idea. It just.....takes a while to get used to.
