Cleaning up the little things

janestarzAll those tiny little things that accumulate over the course of weeks...they are not so bothersome at all. A pencil and some patterns scattered on the coffee table doesn't really bother me. Until we clear it away and I realise how much I love the clean and neat look of a coffee table without yarn wrappers, needles, pens, pencils and patterns strewn about!
And it wasn't just the coffee table either. We moved the scratching post to the balcony door so the kittens had a better view, which allowed me to clean around the couches more easily. I discarded a few boxes that were standing around after checking which one was Kwibus' current favourite. Of course, after putting the others in the wastepaper recycling, he proceeded to sit in his box inside the recycling bin. Like a king.
And then the hoover's battery died on me, so I had to wait for it to charge again.
In any case, the wrappers and notes and patterns have all been stored in project bags. This way I can't misplace any notes and I can focus on one project at a time instead of having to choose between four of them all around the Netflix-watching area. Another thing that seemed quite cleared away was a gathering of needles and needle-tips in my pencil cup. After sorting the needles and putting them all back where they belonged, it felt soo good. I don't want to spend time looking for the right needles when I cast something on later this year, and I don't want to misplace needle tips because the cup was tipped over by a cat with the zoomies.
And it sounds like a really small area to clean and tidy -- and it was! But just sorting through the needles and patterns and projects took me a few hours, interspersed with other chores like making lunch, doing dishes and laundry, and hoovering. It feels much improved now.
Then I watched Steel Magnolias and knitted on my Daybreak shawl for a change. I made excellent progress.
