Lazy weekend
Sep. 23rd, 2019 09:21 amIt's been a busy and chaotic few weeks again, and although I really wanted to help Howling Moon and Silent Wind move, I really didn't feel up to it. Howling Moon was very sweet in saying it was probably best if I stayed home, but I felt like a lousy friend regardless.
However, I'm happy we didn't go. We had a small Saturday shopping spree, and you know you've missed out on something quite mundane when it's a lovely thing to go out for groceries with your boyfriend. We spend so much time apart that even this banal task seems special. It's great to just have him with me and help decide on what to eat, even if he's going to be at work most nights the coming week also. At least we got to decide together.
Yesterday evening we drove to my mom's place in Houten for pizza at what I always jokingly call "The Best Pizza Restaurant in Houten." They have a little backyard pizza oven and they bake the best pizza's. Jos and Eef were there as well, so that was fun. the pizza oven was expertly held down by the sleeping form of Bonnie, the elderly tortie, sleeping underneath.

Somehow they always end up with four cats; they now have Bonnie, Tijger, Makker and Doris II, a stray tuxedo cat that is still very shy. After we had left, mom sent me a picture of Doris hiding in her lap because all the scary visitors had finally left.
The weather was perfect too, such a wonderful soft and gentle September night. Just as we left, it started raining cats and dogs, so we drove home carefully and counting our blessings.
I'm still recuperating a bit from last week, so I'll start this Monday off slowly.
