Bagtanker update
Aug. 4th, 2019 10:16 amI'm working on WIPs -- well, not the Jeck socks because they are perfect for when we are visiting -- and after clearing away a bunch of socks I picked up the Bagtanker vest again. According to my list I've done 91 rows since picking up stitches around the back panel and armscyes.
As I noticed I began to run out of yarn, I was very afraid of the yarn chicken. You're happily knitting along and there's the little fucker, right in your knitting. So I decided to count my stitches to see where I was at.
The front panels, up over the body, around the neck and down to the other bottom edge, should have 336 stitches and I'm right on target. The back panel that reaches around the front of the body, goes under the arms and around the back and to the other side of the front, should have 267 stitches, and somehow I'm at 271.
So that's 607 stitches on the needles! A new record for me. I should have done five more rows including increases, but it's a blessed thing. I'm not ripping back to figure out where I screwed up my increases and I'm not knitting five more rows playing yarn chicken. There's 20 grams left on my skein and I still need to wrap up the short row stitches.
The next bit is going to be interesting: 10 short rows around the front edge, turn and go back down the front edge, over the bottom hem and back, and up the front edge. After these 10 short rows I need to finish of with 14 rows of ridges, with some more increases thrown in the mix too. And all of that with 20 grams of yarn. It's almost half a skein, but I'm a leeeetle worried.
Wish me luck!
But first, I'm going to put a second circular needle (and maybe a third) into the work and fit it again...
