Weekend of nothingness
Jul. 16th, 2018 08:22 amIt was nice for a change to have a weekend where I could clean. To be proud of my blinking washbasin and say "I did that." in stead of "Ugh....uh...not today."
Granted, I was having a bit of trouble with the vacuum. It runs on a Li-ion battery and ran out of power halfway through. With all the cat hair floating around I need to empty the reservoir twice every time I do the house, and the button to release the reservoir is so tight I can't manage it with my limpy sewing hands.
Still, we played a ton of games. I'm back into OpenTTD Transport Tycoon DeLuxe, playing each scenarion until 2050 before downloading a new one. I played this game back when I was a teenager, and during my time in Ede when I went to college, so it's a classic. With such a large dedicated player base creating new content, it doesn't get old. I love running my little trains. Currently I'm on an arctic map (think highlands) that has seasonal weather, so around September the snow starts falling. And it has wonderful graphics, with custom bridges and trains and depots.
We had dinner together and finished the Sense8 finale, ending the story and show with a bang. Eisirt was a little more sceptical because there are some plot holes in the story. I think that if the series hadn't been cut short, they could have elaborated on the villain story more to make it more rounded. It was amazingly expensive to produce, shooting on eight locations all over the world. There were a few gems in there though, especially the tourist bus scene in the finale was just priceless.
I also finished hand-sewing the neckline facing, so I can continue with Zafira's summer dress. I've picked up a sock to knit now.
It's amazing how one person can love a pattern to bits. Tudbspinster is a very slow knitter and she told me she finished the Strandwanderer in two weeks. I dislike the very short rows of 3 stitches and am dragging my heels with it. I'll get back to it soon enough, though. For now, the Tramlines socks need finishing. Or maybe I'll cast on an interesting and intricate sock tonight.
With Eisirt working six early morning shifts this week, it's going to be a weird week again. I might even catch up on some sleep!
