Finished the Qualifying round!
Mar. 11th, 2018 11:03 amThis year the Qualifying Round was not as grueling as last year. The pattern was very lovely, with a relaxed broken rib pattern, simple colourwork and just general knitting along. My knitting speed has increased over the years, so I could properly take a break every now and then and pace myself. No need to finish a pair of socks in three days and get stuck in the lightning-fast Scandinavian teams just yet.
I still finished way before the deadline, with this pair just 10 days on the needles.
Stuff I learned or that happened with this sock:
A new way of knitting SSK, which is far more neat and tidy than what I used to do. No more elongated loops on one side of the sock!
First time using German Twisted Cast-on.
First time using a slipped-stitch toe for strength. I really hate it.
And I won at yarn chicken. Just a sliver of turquoise left.

Four days left for people to finish their socks, get qualified and put into teams. It all depends on the Mods when the next round will start.
Meanwhile, I've got a vanilla sock to finish and I am longing for a scrappy sock, so I won't be bored.
In other Sock-related news, we visited Lothar yesterday and I have him the Dither socks -- largest pair I ever knit. He really loved them but I did see him scratching an itch there... let's hope he gets to really enjoy the socks. I was very happy they fit!
