Photoshoot Day!
Nov. 15th, 2017 09:25 amAround nine-thirty we were starting up the atelier for the photoshoot. I made tea while Sigunne set up her hair & make-up corner. Paul was the first to get make-up, his balding head needed only a light dusting of powder against the glare.
Meanwhile, Photographer Tim and I scouted an empty space in one of the large upstairs offices, and he started setting up a softbox flash while I brought all the clothes upstairs. By the time Paul was done, Kat dropped in and took the chair in hair & make-up and we started shooting upstairs.

Sigunne braiding Tegingûrs hair for the shoot.
The office space upstairs was far too large for what we needed, but there was plenty of light. Our voices echoed a bit, so that made it harder for instructions to be passed between the photographer and model and myself. I doubled as production assistent, tea maker, model distractor and CEO, so I probably had the busiest job of them all. It was still pretty hard for the models to figure out what they had do with their hands as well, but once Tegingûr was done in hair & make-up and Sigunne had waved goodbye to us all, we really got rolling and had tons of fun.

All three models together for the lens, wearing different versions of the Thomas/Trude tunic.
It was 11:30 by the time we were done, so we made excellent progress! The office space was cleared, and we went for a quick lunch together. Afterwards we dumped all the clothes in our car, so they could come home and the atelier would have some extra space for our work again. It's been in the way pretty much ALL the time, so now the collection is back in our basement storage facility (a heated, dry storage box) where it's quite safe.
As for the shoot, it was great fun! It's quite strange to see your brainfarts being worn by actual people, and to see how everything ties together and how it all fits. I haven't got a clue what this is all going to cost, but at least it will get my stuff Out There and I can show the world: "There! I did a thing."
