I haven't been this exhausted from a larp in a while, so I took yesterday off and puttered around the house a bit.
Sorted through my costume and put bits in the wash, sorted through the kitchen stuff and put things away. I even threw out a few longsleeves I'd made for Nieske's costume way-back-when, that were re-used for Windsong and are ripping at the seams (it was a weird non-stretch knit fabric). So Windsong will need a few new longsleeves, I am thinking with a waterfall neckline, for the winter event, as well as a new sweater or coat. Right now I have a grey sweater with black sleeves that goes under the leather top, but I might as well make a coat that closes over the top, to leave some extra room underneath (it is rather snug and needs more room in the lacing). I do still have a wadded cotton coat I've used in winter events before, so I am unsure yet what I will do.

Next to that, I'd cast off a pair of very quick very nearly vanilla socks during the Wildling Weekend, although my knitting time was severely cut down because of kitchen work. I still needed to tuck the threads in, so I started with that.

Then I picked up the Slip-Stripe-Spiral socks I had started on, but by the time I was nearly done with the heel, I realised I hated the bright neon colours being very overpowering and ripped them out completely. *sigh*
I did decide to re-knit the pattern (or the Dorothy's pattern, which is very similar) with a different contrasting yarn. A dark red, probably, as it will mute out the wild pink/green/purple from the hideous skein that I need to get rid of. Or I might try the Ugly Duckling pattern.

After dinner I picked up the Quilted Lattice Mitts for Zaphira I've been working on, and frogged back a bit. I was halfway up the first thumb chart and wasn't sure I had done it right. So I re-knit that bit, finished the first thumb chart, finished the second thumb chart and finally realised what it was I had done wrong.
The chart was called "Thumb section chart" and the instructions did say it was a chart for all the stitches in that round (emphasis mine). For some strange reason I developed a sudden case of pattern repeat blindness, ignored the red square marking said pattern repeat, and just knit the chart as if it was just the thumb section, tying the lattice floats into the rest of the round. Only after I'd finished 36 rows of the thumb section (i.e. the section on the mittens where you are increasing for the thumb) did I realise where I went wrong. And then I had to frog back again, of course.

Still, it got two socks off the needles, which makes the number of current projects on the needles shrink down to three. And I've got the socks for my friend in Australia ready, so I can send them her way!
Project number two is Zaphira's shawl, where I frogged back a bit as I'd forgotten I needed to alternate two different dye baths.
The third project is a pair of socks with a black heel flap (hard to see where to pick up stitches and wrapped stitches at night) at a gauge of 9 sts per inch, so it's super slow and rather strenuous on my hands.

I'm sure I'll pick up a new project soon enough, but let's just hope my muse will be distracted enough by Windsong's stuff that she won't notice I 'only' have three knitting projects.
