Sorting through the baggies
Sep. 20th, 2017 05:26 pmAfter finishing the Bodemloos I've been picking away at the current socks on the needles, rather listlessly. After such a large project it's quite easy to become disheartened and I wasn't much in the mood to cast on another big project.
My friends suggested just sorting through the yarn I have, let the skeins slide through my fingers and see what I felt like.
Last night I just randomly started picking through the baggies I have made earlier this year. All sorts of sock yarn was sorted into zip-lock bags to pick up at any random moment. A blue and orange variegated sock yarn I have four skeins of was put into one zip-lock bag with orange, and another with blue.
I ended up picking a skein I had promised to a friend in Australia, whom I met through the Settlers Online game. After a false start I've settled on a pattern and zipping up the foot in a record time.
The Hubband sock that is on the needles is hurting my hands at the moment, so I've decided to pause knitting on it, and pick a quarter needle size larger for this new project. It's still a bit of a strain, so I need to really take care and take lots of breaks.
As the baggies were strewn across the second couch, I started sorting through them today. With some, I took the pattern out of the bag and stored it in my sock pattern folder. With others, I picked a different contrast yarn. I've put some of the larger queue items (the Bagtanker, for one) into the blue bin near the door, and made room for the sock project bags in the crate next to the couch. Next to the socks for Red (my Australian friend), there's also the socks for Kat, which I intend to finish before the winterlive, and the beautiful Manos del Uruaguay yarn for the Daybreak or its sister pattern Purlbreak. I also found a started cuff in light grey, that will become a Dither combined with beatiful bright purple and dark charcoal.
And it worked! I want to work on all these pretties all at once! Let's not, though. One, two, maaaaybe three at a time, max, or I'll drive myself crazy.
The second result is of course that our living room is much more tidy now. I still need to do the windows and a good hooverin', but definitely better than it was.
