Morgenfryd -- done & dusted
Jul. 31st, 2017 07:59 pmSuper-speed-blocking was done on the kitchen floor with a fan to help take away the moisture. Kat warned me lace blocks really fast -- this was blocked in three hours! The yarn relaxed beautifully and all the lace bits opened up. I would probably need twice as many blocking mats for another such project, so that is something to spend birthday money on.

Sigunne was very happy with it
(but probably not half as happy that I am for having finished this!)
The yarn was (probably?) bought in November 2015 and I started on a Muness, which is the pattern I got for free when I bought the yarn. Then in November 2016 I changed my plans, as I kept getting lost in the large stitch repeats of the charts, and chose the Morgenfryd. This is a free pattern from Filcolana and originally intended for fingering weight (sock) yarn. It was perfect for a first lace project: easy pattern with short pattern repeats and it's own rytm. The B chart had four rows of the same repeat going "knit 1 - yarn over - knit 1 - yarn over - k2tog purl 1 - ssk". It was very easy to memorise...even though it might not look it!
Very scrumptious yarn...55% merino and 45% silk. Sigunne said it was 'quite warm'. It's a gorgeous warm gold colour, perfect for her palette. I hope she can wear it very often!
Edited to add the Ravelry project page, which you can find here.
