janestarzI've worked so hard on these uniforms for the Dutch East Indies Army and then it's so rewarding to see the end product all together. Today was for buttons & buttonholes, and the buttons really finish this outfit.
These all started out as simple coats and then were fitted to the person. Customer 1 came over on May 20th to have his sizes taken, so from beginning to end this was six or seven weeks of work, interspersed with various fittings and other projects. It feels longer ;-)
I'm so happy these are done and they turned out really lovely. The cotton is interfaced with batiste for a sturdy drape. Two of the coats feature a whistle cord, piping between sleeve and cuff, and fringed epaulettes. All of the coats are lined with a blood-red cotton body and black rayon sleeve lining.
Gosh, I'm so glad they are done but also very proud of the end result!
