Finished round 3!
Apr. 14th, 2017 05:13 pmLast night I pushed on for a little while longer, and I grafted the toe ten minutes past midnight. The e-mail went out three minutes later thanks to the ability to snap a picture on my phone and posting it on Flickr straight away.
But these beautiful socks deserve a better photo, so here they are: Round three's stranded colourwork socks. The pattern is called "Mod Madness". The yarn is Online Supersocke Cotton Stretch (green) and Onion Nettle Sock (black) - the "Poison Ivy" combo.

There was a rythm to these socks, with almost all of the design based on three stitches of one colour in a row. Once I figured out how to juggle the two strands of yarn in my left hand, it was fast going. The gusset decreases (every odd row) and the toe decreases (every even row) were as expected and quickly enough mastered. You just have to watch out where the mirrors in the design occur.
Now that I've managed to knit a whole pair of stranded socks, I have high hopes for one of my Knitting Resolutions (to knit a sock from the Op-Art Socks book)

(And I only just noticed this is the beginning of round, where the rows have a little jog. But you get the idea.)
This round, I'm faster than the average knitter on my team, but there's no telling what the next round will bring. That is still a little way off, so my fingers can rest for a bit.
Qualifying round - 2 weeks - Finished!
Competition round 1 - 2 weeks - Finished!
Competition round 2 - 2 weeks - Finished!
