Make allll the corsets
Mar. 27th, 2017 09:26 pmCurrently I'm juggling quite a number of orders, which is the *perfect* time to start thinking about items I need to make for myself.
And then Sigunne invited me to "Soirée", which invites historical costumers to meet up and get to know one another. It's a small world, after all. I told her I have two historical dresses I could pull out and wear, and how my red kirtle ("Apple", aka my Emphebion costume née 15th century kirtle) would be perfect, as I have no stays to wear with my Florentine dress (Marianne's outfit).
Or I could borrow her Simplicity stays pattern, which works really well.
So now I've got plans for a modern rendition of a corset, I'm ready to start sewing on a boned waistcoat with mild reduction, I've got a herringbone twill mock-up of a Victorian corset, there were plans for an Edwardian corset and suddenly I have a dire need for a pair of 16th century stays.
I guess maybe the universe is nudging....
