Capsule wardrobe
Feb. 24th, 2017 08:53 amI'm hoping to transform my wardrobe into a capsule wardrobe in the coming months. Easy to match pieces, some basics. It's all very interesting stuff. My weight has been a little more stable lately, so I feel confident I can plan ahead.
Pinterest has been a huge help, I spent most of last night pinning colour palettes that suit my complexion. You can see the board here.
Next up is to decide what kind of items I need -- what my daily schedule is and how I dress for those things. I don't need five dressy tops if I don't go out. I would like to define my own style a little more, get rid of some things I shouldn't be keeping, and sew new items in the style of the wardrobe. Having a few high-quality items also means I can spend a little more money on quality fabrics (like a pretty silk blouse or a tweed waistcoat). I might even be able to abolish all polyester from my cupboard.
The hardest part will be to go through my cupboard and throw out some of the things I'd love to wear but never do. I'm pretty sure this will be a process of months, and my weight is sure to change in that time. The easiest and fun part first: decide what kind of items I need, design the items themselves, attaching a colour palette and start looking for fabrics.
Perhaps this will also keep muse focused and busy, resulting in less haphazard late nights at the atelier and less mixed results. I still love the asymmetrical zip sweater I sewed, but my latest sewing endeavour (the wrap top) I'm a little less impressed with.
