Project Rockefeller: All done!
Oct. 17th, 2016 11:02 amIn the last leg of this journey, I thought I had so little time to knit. I've been working fulltime away from home, spending time on my knitting in the evenings and weekends. But at least it was well-received at home when I did spend time on my knitting. Kwibus (having just visited the vet) needed some TLC...

I had started on the last clue with 42 grams of my light blue Malabrigo left, and I thought it would not be enough for both wings. Instead I resolved to knit one wing (after a false start) light blue - dark blue - light blue - white, and the other one the other way around.
Somewhere around the final rounds of the wing tips I might have forgotten a decrease, because the two tips are not identical. But hey, they are done and I had 5 grams of light blue to spare!

Eisirt thinks it looks like the Millenium Falcon without a cockpit

The finished shawl is very warm, and I loved the challenge of knitting it in three colours in stead of the prescribed two.
Two of the back panel stripes, several of the piano fingers and several of the Egyptian squares are in dark blue. And don't even get me started on the striped wings!
The most aggravating thing was that using more skeins also means more tangles, especially in the last two clues, but it's worth it!
It still needs blocking, which I will do some day soon. But I am really happy with how it turned out. I hope to wear this often!
Of course, after such a big project there is a little hole you fall into. What to knit next? I've taken inventory of my basket next to the couch to see what I have on my needles and what I wanted to knit in the coming time. I'll also have to take a look at my knitting list for 2016 to see what goals I set myself and can still try to achieve before the end of the year. First, I'll try and finish some sock WIPs.
