Just before Eisirt had to leave for work I was ready for him to try on the jeans. The belt loops were still flapping loose, and there was basting thread at the edge of the lining, but the waistband was all done.
And it fits great! Look at this!

Laatste doorpas cargo pants

I don't have enough hem tape to finish it, but I prepared the rest of the documents that need to accompany it when I hand it in and I made a list of the last haberdasheries I need to pick up tomorrow/later this week.

Tomorrow I start on the blazer! I've just traced the last pattern pieces, so I'm ready to go to sit down and relax for a bit.

Thank you! I'm really happy with the fit and just wait what it looks like after a good press and some hemming.

The inspiration pic for this looked promising. Maybe it's the picture, but the detail sort of all blends together here though. Was that intentional? Sort of like 'secret biker' like there's 'secret jammies' for workwear? If you want a touch more contrast, you could experiment with a slightly different colour (charcoal?) or wash in some of the panels, maybe?

Well, I could do that, or I could just hand it in as it is and get a grade. It's black-on-black and that's probably why the details are nearly invisible (I had to edit the picture to get some details visible). I don't have the time nor the know-how to get the "lived in look" that it will get by wearing anyway.

Excellent point! It was more of a comment for future reference anyway.

Thanks for your thoughts! Exchanging ideas keeps the creativity going.

By making four muslins I've already learned so much about drafting trousers. I had to compare different ways of drafting basic blocks to see what the difference was. Where did the extra room come from? Why was the crotch so tight you could see The Bulge?

I'm not quite there yet, there's still stuff to explore, but that will come after the exams. I also have to keep in mind the build and figure of the model. By making the trouser legs more tight, I risk exaggerating Eisirt's belly in comparison. Now everything looks pretty balanced. And it fits great, so that's a bonus!
Even if it's not exactly the same as the Ugly Bros cargo pants, I'm happy with how it turned out.

So to pick your brain.... Legolas-tight only works up to a certain size. How would you handle a full range of sizes of such a tight pair of trousers for the larger sizes?

I don't really do ranges, but you seem to have some good thoughts there already. The only thing that stood out to me from the original was to use of aging, which I guess you could simulate up to some extent by mixing fabrics, like I mentioned before. The tightness wasn't really a factor for me, I tend to wear loose-ish or stretchy things myself for comfort.
