New games and old games
Mar. 30th, 2016 12:35 pmLast weekend I spent a lot of time behind the sewing machine and then on Monday I was suddenly... exhausted. The lining was attached to the wadded jacket and the end was in sight.
As soon as Eisirt got home from his job we fired up the games. I had remembered just in time that the Sims 4 has a special collectible that is only available for Easter. But I also downloaded a new game: Armoured Warfare.
I've been playing World of Tanks for what seems like ages, but the community has gone a bit downhill. We used to be in a clan, with a number of Dutch people who all knew or are friends with Mr. Timmey. But the clan fell apart over the winter and people joined different clans and others decided to not play WoT as much as they used to.
And when nearly every battle is dramatic because either the team sucks or people are just moaning and bitching in chat, then the fun soon disappears for us as well. WoT became a chore in stead of a delight.
Armoured Warfare is pretty similar, but with modern tanks. And there are two options: either you play in a team against another team (PvP), or you do a team mission (PvE). In PvE the teams are much smaller (just 5 tanks) but the community is much better. People really work together, everyone pays attention to the minimap, and I haven't seen anyone post negative comments in battle chat yet.
There was a x5 multiplier on Reputation (XP) earned over Easter, so I've already maxxed out the research on my Tier 1 vehicles and bought my first tier 3 tanks. I love the wheeled tank destroyers and am slowly starting to nibble on Medium missions with my tier 3 vehicles.
Despite the missions being mostly "approach target, take out multitude of enemies, and cap" (especially on lower tiers) it's great fun. The plethora of enemies spawning all over the map means you have to pay attention, and it makes the team work closer together.
I'm very curious to see if this game keeps being fun, but it's a nice way to spend an evening after work. Logging in and playing every day also gets you nice bonuses, so so far, so good.
As for the Sims 4 collectible Easter eggs: got those done in just an hour or two of playing, so that's settled my OCD quite nicely.
