Reducing WIPs is continuing steadily. These are the first pair of socks from the Sock Knitting class on Craftsy. (I posted about this earlier, it's a free class and Lucy Neatby provides some wonderful insights for new and experienced sock knitters alike!)

Smocked Guernsey Socks

I am also trying to take some more interesting pictures this one above is quite nice, but if I don't watch it my entire project overview page on Ravelry will be featuring white backgrounds. So I tried shaking it up a bit while getting a better view of the entire sock architecture, and I'm not at all please with the next picture. At least it shows all the details.

Smocked Guernsey Socks

Socks have several different parts, each knit in a specific way. For example, these socks are knit top-down, so you start at the cuff and work your way towards the toes. The cuff needs to be stretchy enough that it will fit your ankle and not slide down when you're walking. Then comes the leg section, that which covers your leg until the ankle.
This sock has a little divider between each section, emphasizing the shape of the foot and the architecture of the sock. I really like it!

This was knitted from Opal sock yarn, which was pretty scratchy. I hope that means it's very sturdy.
I'm going to focus on knitting some other WIPs before casting on another sock project. First up is the cowl for Steelweaver, followed by the lace shawl for Sigunne.
