Sock yarn inspiration
Feb. 13th, 2016 11:49 amSo this happened: I went to the Crafts faire (Handwerkbeurs) yesterday, and I came home with 20 skeins of sock yarn. They are so cute together, and they were only € 2,- per 50 gram skein and I couldn't resist. (Cold sheep is animal cruelty, after all.)

I'm debating whether I can make a striped vest with these two. I wanted to make a Hilja, since it's a free pattern, but the Hilja calls for worsted weight yarn, and this is fingering weight.
Now
anemoona has done it in sock yarn, but it took a lot of re-calculating. I've been trying to find another pattern, and this Ivy league vest looks perfect, but it's completely Fair Ilse, including the ribbing, which means I'd have to adapt most of the instructions anyway.
There's a Drops pattern for sock weight yarn I might use, and it's a little longer in the waist and not as fitted so it might work well for me. I do want to do it with a v-shaped neckline, but I'm sure I could steal that from the Hilja or work out the knit-two-together myself.
I'm looking for some feedback here, so your comments and suggestions are very welcome! I'd finish my Harvest Cardigan before I'd start on this anyway, need to clear the WIP list before I sit down for this.
