Our cat is the best enabler

janestarzI'm starting 2016 by creating some space. I had four skeins of Lana Grossa Regazza Lei, a bulky soft wool in natural white. I tried knitting a hat from it, but hats really don't look well on me. I frogged it and found a pattern for a cowl I wanted to make from it, but never got around to knitting it.
Seeing as how it's 4 skeins of something super bulky, this took up some space in my stash, and on January first I resolved to get it out of the way. I finished the cowl by January 2nd and just have to tuck the threads in.
I also recently participated in a swap, which has taken all the Lammy superwash 4 out of my stash. It's a sport-weight yarn that would do well for thick socks, but mostly it was the colours of the Zeeuwse deken. In return, I will get a ball of merino sock yarn. Quite a stash-buster!
But the best WIP to get rid of happened yesterday. I wasn't in the mood for anything much, so I picked up the blocks from my basic patchwork workshop (2013!). By the time I got tired of handsewing the blocks together, Doortje came to lie in my lap and I couldn't reach my knitting anymore. Thanks to her, I've done 3½ of the 5 remaining blocks!!
This means the end is really so close I can smell it! Tonight I want to finish handsewing the blocks, which means that after I finish my homework for the week I can cut the sashing and machine-sew the top together.
It feels great to clear the room of some of my WIPs.
Socks are never a problem, I love knitting socks. It means I don't get around to other projects, though. After this pair for Eisirt is done (nearly at the second heel) I hope to get around to the Muness for Sigunne and my cardigan.
But first: weaving in the threads of that cowl and taking a picture as soon as the light is better. (ETA: Done!)
