2015/2016 Knitting list
Dec. 22nd, 2015 08:36 amI've done a couple of Project Lists before, and this particular instance was sparked by a topic on Ravelry, asking what projects you'd like to work on in the coming year. I've merged my old project list with my New Year Knitting Resolutions, and here it is.
As usual, new or edited items are in blue. There is a lot of blue, a lot of things have changed, finished or been deleted.
Finished (or ended) projects
A lot, and I really do mean A LOT of blue items on that list. Mostly because (unlike my sewing projects) I actually get around to doing what's on the list. Still, it's impressive to see what I've achieved since I last made such a list in June. Three unplanned projects cast on and finished, three extra pairs of socks from a general cry of "I want to knit more socks!" and a fourth in the making.
I've noticed that I love knitting socks, but scarves and shawls and other large projects are not things I pick up easily. Maybe they're too bulky, maybe they require too much concentration, I don't know. I've decided not to push myself too much and just work on one concentrated thing at a time. I'm currently working on the commissions for Steelweaver at home and taking Eisirt's socks along to Christmas dinners as a relaxed no-thinking-required project. Once I'm done for Steelweaver, I'll continue on the Muness for Sigunne and after that, start on the next commission or my Batik shawl (it would be nice to have a shawl to wear with my new winter coat before it actually gets cold).
Other than this knitting list, I've also got a few nice events planned. There's Wol in de Wei with Tyldak and
wannabe_bitch somewhere this year, and I might visit the Handwerkdagen (Crafty days) in February/March. At the end of the year
anemoona and I will visit the Knit & Crochet days again, so that will be fun as well. And in March we also celebrate the first anniversary of the Ikea knitting breakfast (ont-breit)!
So in short, many beautiful things to try my needles at, many things to look forward to as well. I hope to focus on some sewing projects in the coming days, perhaps an updated project list for sewing projects will be coming up later.

Finished (or ended) projects
- Copilot Cowl. The yarn I knit this with was too itchy to wear around my neck. At some point in the new year, I will frog it, give the yarn a soak and knit a pair of socks with it.
Knit more socks!Done! After the socks I knit in Turkey which wet my appetite, I knit several pairs, including the show-off stranded socks that were on my last list (and proof that these lists work well for me!). But I also knit a pair of Dorothy's for my mother-in-law and a pair of Broken Seed Stitch socks with separate big toe. I'm quite addicted to knitting socks, they are the perfect small project to take along as long as they're not too intricate.Zeeuwse Lappendeken; I want to finish this before September.. Done! Parents-in-law were ecstatic. Evidence here.Half-fingered gloves in a purple/lilac sock yarn that matches my winter coat.I doubt that gloves will work well in this yarn, so I've scrapped this idea and need another happy yarn to combine it with so they will be socks one day.Joris de draakThrew this out. It was never going to be pretty, and I gave up on it. The pattern found a new home.Kallan Mitts, a commission for
steelweaver is done and blocked.Windsong's Shawl, my first official crochet project in a suitably chunky yarn.Marywarmers, also for Windsong. I turned out to be allergic for this yarn, so I will have to knit them again in another yarn.
- The Aragorn KAL socks, which are currently in hibernation. I'm at the heel of the first sock, but I've already frogged it completely once, and half-frogged it twice.
I want to try my hand at toe-up socks. Very recently cast this on, already at the heel of the first one. Incidentally, these will be the first pair I knit for Eisirt.- Harvest Cardigan in a petrol-coloured wool. Still working on this, but my 5 mm needles are needed for a commission, so I can't continue at the moment. I've made some excellent progress and hope to pick it up once my commissions are done.
- The Muness for Sigunne. I've finished the boring stockinette part, but now I need to look at charts and concentrate.
- Cabled headband and a Scarflette, another commission from Steelweaver. The headband is getting along nicely.
- Make-up remover squares, an environmentally-friendly project in crochet.
- I'd like to pick up Nalebinding again. Still. This has been on my list since forever.
- Koffieboontje socks in Scheepjes invicta coloris.
- I want to try my hand at a nice crochet project. Haven't a clue what it's going to be, but I'd like to try new things.
- I've had this yarn for this since February, but only recently found out that the Daybreak pattern will work quite well for it.
- I need a shawl or scarf with my new winter coat, which will be the Batik pattern. This is a difficult, 15-page pattern that requires a lot of concentration, so I'm curious when I'll be picking it up.
- I promised
wannabe_bitch to knit her a pair of Eowyn socks. - And I want to knit at least 1 pattern from my knitting books. (Which might be the koffieboontje socks.)
