janestarzWhen we celebrated the birthday of Eisirt's father last Sunday, I finally could gift him my beautiful finished Zeeuwse Meebreideken. Both of Eisirt's parents were completely overwhelmed that I would give them such a wonderful gift!
(I was mostly overwhelmed by the wonderful barbeque they had put together for us, in their sun-filled backyard. The meat was so tender and everything was lovely!)
In their livingroom (with some boat-themed items), the blanket already feels very homely.
They could not stop talking about how great the gift was, and last night my father-in-law called to express his thanks yet again. Even though his wife went missing wearing the blanket sometimes. She has already taken it to the neighbours to show them the blanket and worn it draped over her arms, softly caressing the wool.
"But you will not hear me [complain], not even when we're in Scotland in September and we're sleeping snugly under the warm blanket." he said.
It was quite wonderful to make this for them and I believe the blanket has found a wonderful home where it will be loved! They can take it along when they're going on a road trip, and sip coffee when they're sitting under our blanket outside to watch the sun set -- and we will be with them, represented by the blanket.
