Happy Crafty Update
Jun. 26th, 2015 10:25 amSome news from the knitting front! I went to the thrift store in Son last week and picked up some really lovely wool for a really tiny price. After a few false starts, I decided to work it into a simple scarf in a very interesting pattern that doesn't look like knitting at all. The Son thrift shop often has cheap second-hand wool people never got around to knitting and I picked up some bigger dpns I can use for blocking as well. I want to knit something nice, wash and block, and send it on its way again. (At some point I will run out of items I want to knit for myself, after all.)

I love the colours and texture
This will be a very fluffy and warm shawl, because the stitch makes it extra thick so extra warm. I haven't got a destination for this one yet, so make me an offer if you want to adopt!
The Ravelry pattern is here.

The Harvest Cardigan -- neckline and start of the raglan sleeves.
This one is the Harvest Cardigan. My first attempt of knitting something really big for myself. I'm still wondering if I should maybe switch to a little more visually interesting knitting. Solid colours are great for cables and knotwork, but maybe I should just keep it simple for now. This will probably eat most of my time once I finish the Zeeuwse Lappendeken. The colour is a wonderful petrol and the wool has already picked up tons of cat hair.

Half-fingered gloves on teensy tiny needles (2.25 mm)
My half-fingered gloves to go with my new winter coat. I was lucky to find sock wool that matches the colour of my coat so perfectly. Also: first pair of gloves! On tiny sock dpns! I should finish these before casting on any new sock projects.
And finally, I made a pair of sock blockers from an Ikea placemat. I can recommend this tutorial if you want to make your own pair!
