Although we had expected to spend the night in the English harbour, we stayed in the windstill bay across the narrow strait for the night. This morning at 6:45 am Eisirt and I woke to the sound of heavy rain and thunder. He went abovedecks to observe the phenomenon while I continued to sleep. The ship was anchored tightly and it was hardly rocked by the gusts of wind that sprayed the rain onto the boat.

We did have breakfast in the English harbour though, taking on fresh water (for showering and bathroom use) and fuel, and also a rare opportunity to recharge camera batteries and power packs. I am lucky to have brought a solar charger and have already used it to recharge my mp3-player twice. (If needed, it can also charge my cellphone.)
After the last groceries were brought on board we crossed the narrow strait again and found another near-windstill bay and anchored there.

When we are traveling it is too cold to sit in the shade and the schedule is mostly subject to where we are, whether we are going somewhere and the weather. Only mealtimes are set.
One can murmur objections about lying in the hot sun near midday, but when there is no wind and no promise of the weather holding, one will park ones rotund buttocks on a towel in the sunshine and just use SPF30, sod it. After about 15 minutes, I was night boiling, so I sat up to catch some more wind and 10 minutes after that they rang the bell for lunch. While we were very nearly done with the minced meat and aubergine dish with pasta and a green salad, the wind picked up, dark clouds drifted in, and the rain came pouring down in a deluge. It has been raining ever since.
Everyone fled belowdecks to their cabins where it is stifling, except Eisirt and myself.

This weekend we will return to the opposite shore where we can meet indigenous craftsmen, but there is no telling what the exact schedule will be, or when the sun will return. The only thing we know is that on Sunday we will return to Bodrum and on Monday we go home, or at least to Bergen.

In other, unrelated news, I just finished my first sock. I had planned to have more finished, but I might have underestimated the amount of work that goes in these socks. I am still unsure if I should do the second sock or try my hand at the glove project I brought along. It might be best to get that second sock done before or shortly after we return. But my mind is about as changable as the weather sometimes.
