Despite the grueling stress my mother-in-law inflicted upon herself and everyone around her we left the Netherlands in a composed and almost blasé manner. Both Eisirt and myself are pretty inshakable travellers. After a round of checking if we had everything packed back in Eindhoven, all we had to do when we came to Bergen was make a selection of what stayed behind (used underwear) and what to bring to Turkey.
Even the parking delay could not dismay us: we were already checked into our flight, and had only to deposit a single suitcase before we could board -- the rest was carry-on luggage.
Trying to zone out of the bundle of stress that was my mother-in-law was somewhat difficult though, and our quick journey to the gate prohibited any tax-free shopping and buying of drinks to bring on board.

The flight was uneventful, but Turkey looked forest-rich and beautifully green from above. Bodrum Airport is brand-new and shiny. I do fear they hide the wastebins somewhat, and the only non-alcoholic beverages we could find in the post-landing duty free shop was Red Bull and water.

As far as I could tell from our ride to the harbour Turkey looks a lot like Greece (don't tell anyone I said so). The language is equally incomprehensible, with odd g's and c's sticking out like elbows.
There was no official welcome on board except a check of last names and because our flight was delayed we had a quick dinner at 10pm.

Not being officially introduced to anyone left me feeling a bit lost, but we have a tiny cabin with an even tinier bathroom. There's sun on the fore deck and shade on the aft deck. There was also no head count this morning so we nearly left one of the Italians behind in Bodrum as we set out. (We will sail on the Gulf of Gokova for a week).

The weather is expected to change, with rain tomorrow, so we're well underway at the moment. We're sailing east, against the wind and on motor power only. We've already spotted a couple of dolphins, and the wind is pretty cold. I've cast on a sock and spent at least half of my awake time on this boat alone, which is appreciated but wasn't expected. Soon, there will be lunch and more knitting. Life is windy but warm.
Het is hier verrukkuluk.

(Edited to add: I will add pictures to the posts as soon as they're up!)
