Trying to reach my teacher
Mar. 31st, 2015 10:05 amFor the second time I've tried to contact my teacher and it goes awry... First there was a piece of mail I had already scanned and was ready to send an e-mail about, when I found out I didn't have an e-mail address and I should send it by snail mail. It took nearly two weeks to get to my teacher, which meant I was stuck and fretting about it until the next class...
This time I sent an e-mail, replying to an e-mail I had received from my teacher (so no typos!). It never arrived. I had sent it on Tuesday, and I couldn't continue with that piece of homework until I received an answer, which means I can continue on it today as I went to class yesterday.
It makes me wonder whether it is actually useful to send mail to my teacher. It might be preferable to not bother and save myself the stress of waiting for an answer.
Next Monday is Easter Monday, so no class, which gives me an awesome amount of time for my extra assignments. I plan to have at least the straight skirt finished, and I should be able to work at my blouse as well. I finally made up my mind and bought a plaid cotton (very thin) for the vintage blouse I had in mind.
The big idea is to have basic patterns for my size for at least a dress and a blouse, and I can model any kind of dress and blouse on those blocks. Later on in the year (read: in a few weeks) we'll start on a wide coat, so I will also have that basic block lying around. That just leaves a few others (fitted coat, jacket and tight/negative ease dress for jersey projects) still out there.
I must admit the main reason I dislike drafting full scale is because I just don't have the table space for it. As it is, I'm shuffling around sewing machines, laptops, knitting projects, and piles of mail to get around to my homework. It's very demotivating.
Best to get started a.s.a.p.
