Because I wasn't quite ready for Maerquin yet, what with Assen the week before and all, several things weren't running so smoothly. I hadn't finished my recipe book, which is okay because I didn't use it much anyway. I am also considering re-writing it or making a new one, since the Ikea Blank Book I had bought isn't cut out for the weather conditions because I didn't have a basket or bag to hold it in.

I also wasn't quite prepared for my knitting. [livejournal.com profile] yavain suggested taking a little something to knit along, so I cast on LaLa's Simple Shawl (Ravelry link), took a picture of the PDF with my phone and only read the first few lines.
Apparantly I had not saved a paper copy of the pattern and with upgrading my motherboard, the 10+ year old HP printer could no longer be connected (no more parallel ports!), so I figured an image on my phone would be enough hints.

However, I hadn't read the pattern through and only today, when I returned from Maerquin having knitted a lot of rows I realised the pattern had three different stitches. The garter stitch and stockinette stitch, which I had already used, and a lace row, which I had not.

The Knitting Dilemma:
Does taking most of your work off the needles and re-doing it all compensate for the additional beauty of doing the pattern Right?

In this case, I think it does. But it's never fun to rip up your work and to start from scratch. *sigh*

Als ik het originele patroon zie, denk ik ook dat het leuker is met het kant ertussen. Dat maakt het geheel wat luchtiger.
