Project Bolderkar
Oct. 14th, 2014 09:38 pmA while back I wrote about buying a second-hand Bollerwagen (Bolderkar) which would be pimped for Maerquin. We've worked hard on fixing it up, and here's the long awaited "It's finished!" post.
We bought the Bolderkar at a second-hand store in Best, after a short search in a local second-hand shop. It was a pale colour, with orange metal holding old, white rubber tires. The thing looked sturdy enough for larp though.

Bollerwagen, original
But I wanted to pimp it up to make it look more medieval. I went for the old familiar "Black leather and dark wood" look I associate with older furniture. You see a lot of older model, of indestructable quality, furniture in second-hand stores that are dark oak and black leather.
Eisirt de-assembled the thing. We ordered new tires at a local bicycle store and asked the repairman to put the tires onto the wheels for us. Meanwhile, Gûrron and Eisirt had sanded down the wood parts and the metal parts, and I'd done my part by shopping for wood stain and metal paint.
I chose a dark mahogany for the wood, and three layers of woodstain later, with new tires and black metal parts, it now looks larp-ready, like this:

Bollerwagen, re-medievalised

*ding* Project done!
