May progress report
Jun. 6th, 2014 10:53 pmA few days into June here's my progress of the past month on BHQ (Brown Hexagon Quilt).

In May, I sewed 61 flowers for my quilt. -- Click the image to view a larger version on Flickr!
Please notice the absence of duplicates -- squee!
It seems like an absurd amount, and it kind of is. Considering I've not felt the Quilt Bug bugging me for the past week or two, this means I sewed most of these in the first half of the month.
Well, everyone deals with grief in their own way, and during the long hours of waiting I had the comfort of my small hexagons and something to occupy my hands.
Flowers made: 201 out of an estimated 375
Top assembly: 29 flowers attached to the top
It's getting harder and harder to find unique combinations for my flowers. I've also hit the snag that I've run out of paper hexagons to wrap new fabrics with. I still need to sew 174 flowers -- I'm only just past halfway! -- and I'd like to get as much variety in fabrics with my flowers as I can. I've still got fabric I haven't yet used marked and lots of fabric already cut, but I lack the paper hexagons to wrap, so I can't yet use them in my flowers.
Still, I think it's about time to start attaching some flowers to the top now, even if it's just to free up some paper hexagons.
Another good reason to do this is because I'm getting kind of tired of assembling flowers.
So far, I've not done any quilting in the past week and I've picked up a test piece of knitting, so I might just take a break. However, top assembly is a really cosy thing to do, as you can just see your work grow beneath your hands and it gets you to fold six-sided pieces in interesting new ways.
And here's what 192 flowers look like (including the 20 roses in the corner):

Can you believe I found another duplicate in this pile?
