Like it can't run out...

janestarzDancing tonight was fun again! Stefan and I are still a good team, and although I sometimes am still in his way, we dance very well together. I still have to compensate for him being smaller than I am, and we're still wedged very closely together, but he's a very good leader, which makes dancing with him easy. We've quite gotten used to one another.
We learned a new bit in the tango tonight, something I've never done before and is slightly reminiscent of what competitive couples on the floor dance. After the promenade, we take the right turn (gentleman blocks the lady, as usual) but then I "tiptoe" (step) around him, I swivel around to another promenade, and there's a kick, a swift change from left-facing to back into promenade for the lady, and the final few steps back into dancing direction (i.e., with the lady facing the wall, walking backwards). I really had to tie my hair up for this. Very awesome sequence, but of course I have no clue what it's called.
Then on Thursday I have an extra lesson with Bernie, which was scheduled to replace my missed lesson from Sunday. We've been getting a lot of feedback on our technique, but during our usual lesson we hardly ever dance a full song together. It's great to brush up your technique, but it doesn't help with the process of getting used to one another. Where Stefan is very good at leading (speaking through the hands), most of the time I've no clue what Bernie wants me to do. I try to push back, to give him the feeling I'm on the other end of his arms, but he does need to speak up more. Of course, I'm spoiled with Stefan who is very eloquent in pushing me around with his hands and who tells me I'm a good follower.
In other words, I'm looking forward to a "regular" lesson with Bernie, which should be good for our equilibrium as a pair on the dance floor.
He's also invited me to the New Year's ball on January 3rd. I should probably make myself something new to wear, and inspiration struck on the way home, but now it's definitely time for bed.
