Final meetings, final prep
Jul. 18th, 2013 11:54 pmYesterday was my last day at work before my holiday and today I had a lot of meetings planned. It's been very busy!
After work I drove to school, where once again (for what feels like the fourth or fifth time in a row) we didn't quite finish the jacket I'm making. Hopefully my homework will be the final work I will do on it, as I can't wait to start on something new. I've been working on this jacket since November and if I never ever wear it after finishing it, I'll be more than pleased.
This morning I had to be in the car at 06.30 to be in Bakel at 07.30 to have my hair braided. One of the customers from the store, who also helped out during the photoshoot, is a hairdresser. My boss had given me a coupon for this hairdresser's shop, so I put it to good use. She braided the front half of my hair into tiny braids and tied them off with an elastic. I was done by 10 am sharp!
I picked up some fruit and then proceeded to Zwijndrecht, where I helped
diverteddreamer braid some dreads into Ivrellith's hair and after that was done they both braided my dreads in the hair that remained loose. Since I'd driven with the windows to a crack, my hair was quite tangled, so separating the right bits of hair was quite painful, but the braiding wasn't. The end result is very pleasing, so kudo's for the hard work!
Then I drove to Hilversum where
leonelescantre was already working on his armour and I came in just in time to help Tim but a bandage on a cut finger. The cats were "docked for Pampus" and although I was very tired from a short night and lots of driving, I made good progress on my helmet. I had designed another tier with a tribal which Tim dubbed to look "Omega", and managed to mould the leather with water.
Tomorrow I have one final meeting; picking up my new spare car key at Renault in Oisterwijk, after which I'm free until Sunday night to work on whatever else I need to make for Drachenfest.
Gambeson status: done!
Pants status: inside leg seam, back seam need doing, nearly there
Pyjama status: done!
Helmet status: needs one final tier and chin strap
Greaves status: whatever
Bracers status: found my old bracers back
Formal jacket status: in planning
Almost there!
