18 days to go

Suddenly it's only 18 days until Drachenfest and I've still got lots of things to finish. Organising the Anarquendor was particularly difficult this year, in part because Life seems to kick the crap out of everyone this year, including me. It's hard to get a group of people enthusiastic about going to an event in Germany when they're worried about their jobs.

Things I still have to do:
- Finish my gambeson -- this is non-negotiable. I have to have a new gambeson this year.
- Finish my helmet -- It's wearable once I add a chin strap. Other wishes: a cheek guard. My tools are supposed to come in today, but since my gambeson is prio 1 I'll wait with the helmet until after that or possibly Drachenfest.
- Make a new pair of pants. I've bought cotton, which wears a lot nicer than the drawstring-waist polyester pants I made myself last year. This is a short project (3 hours, tops?) but like my homework, I "just" need to get around to it.
- I realised this morning that since my gambeson has short sleeves, I should really have a pair of bracers under it. Since I don't know where my thin leather ones are, I might make myself new ones matching my new helmet, but like the helmet: it can wait until DF if need be.

I also have no clue where my lacing rings are (probably at my mother's place, in a box), so I might just have to pick up some new ones... somewhere... or figure out a new way of closing my gambeson. (Duck tape springs to mind. Argh.)

Ik plan ook altijd de projecten voor een larp ruim van te voren in, maar op de een of andere manier wordt het op het einde altijd haastwerk. Vandaag denk ik nog 'ik heb alle tijd', morgen is de Larp -ineens- al over 14 dagen.
