Moving some more (stuff around)
Jun. 10th, 2013 10:20 pmThis morning, with my huge after-larp-dip grumbling a faint protest in the background, I drove to Tilburg down the countryside roads through Oisterwijk. I met up with the awesome Twilightbanana and Steelweaver, who had rented a little van for the large things that still needed moving. I'd picked up some more official moving boxes at Gamma (expensive, but necessary!) and we set to work. While Twi dismantled my computer and desk, Steelweaver was folding fabrics and I was up in the attic picking up some more larp things.
We left at 13:15, which was high time for lunch! Our trip back to Boxtel was a little less touristic than my ride to Tilburg had been, as I stuck to major roads. We had a quick lunch with soup and set to work. Twi went to the Gamma to pick up some shelves, in part to cover up the dark marks neighbour Huub had made on my freshly-painted wall, in part because I am in dire need of surface space! Steelweaver and I worked our magic lugging boxes and fabric up the stairs to my room.
I sent them home at four, hoping they'd dodge traffic at least somewhat, packing water and chocolate for the road, and thanking them profusely.
The first feeling I had after moving in my room in Boxtel was that now it was time to wrap up the things that needed moving. Today was a major step in the right direction. There's still stuff in Tilburg that needs to be packed and moved (quite a lot, actually) but none of that needs a larger car than my own. I have my desk, my rocking chair, and (huzzah!) my own PC back and up and running again. If ever we have a spare evening that I can pack up a few boxes, I can call NoKey and ask if it's okay if I do so.
After dinner (a poor stab at rice-cooker cooked mac & cheese, urgh) I frantically cleared away things to make room for sitting as my dad would come over for a cup of coffee. I showed them around a bit and we had a good time chatting. I still have a lot of work to do, not nearly everything is in its proper spot, but I have good hope I will get around to it somewhere this week.
